I’ve been staying away from caffeine for about 3 years now after learning the negative effects it has on our bodies. I read new coffee info in the book Breakthrough: 8 Steps to Wellness (Suzanne Somers) and was blown away! I had no idea coffee consumption increased certain hormones etc!
Here are a few facts that are taken from the book:

- Coffee increases female hormones (Estradiol)
- Decreases the human growth hormone.
- It increases insulin which is the hormone that makes us fat.
- Can cause stress hormones to go up. When this happens we produce a lot of adrenaline and cortisol. Very irritating to the digestive tract.
It is also important to remember that coffee is an inflammatory substance, along with sugar and alcohol.
Reading the above info made me very happy about my decision to ditched my morning java. I found a new morning ‘comfort’ drink that is really good! It is a natural coffee substitute and I will write a blog post on it soon. 🙂
