My Take on Taking a Daily Multivitamin: A Great Idea!

by You Be Healthy

istock_000004880453xsmallgerberI just had a Twitter question about a good multivitamin so I thought I’d put up a quick post!

I stopped taking a multivitamin a few years ago because of conflicting information floating around. I just wasn’t sure that I needed to take one.

Then I read Breakthrough, got a preventative health doctor and learned that it is important to supplement our diets as our food sources are lacking in nutrients due to poor soil nutrition, environmental factors etc.

Part of my daily regime now is taking a multivitamin called “Two Per Day” (Life Extension).  I take one with my delicious smoothie in the morning and then the second at lunchtime.  There is also a great description on the Life Extension site which you can read here.

From Life Extension:

“A study published in JAMA demonstrated the health benefits of taking daily vitamins by pointing out “Most people do not consume an optimal amount of all vitamins by diet alone. Pending strong evidence of effectiveness from randomized trials, it appears prudent for all adults to take vitamin supplements.”48 The same JAMA issue, in its scientific review, reveals that inadequate intake of vitamins B6, B12, E, D, and folate are associated with less than optimal health.”
